Volcanic Crater Shredding

The Sherpas are joining Salomon Freeski TV to quest deep into the volcanic region of Chile.  While skiers and riders have etched their mark on nearly every mountain feature that has a chance of holding snow and people routinely ski the flanks of our worlds great volcanoes, very few venture from the summit rim and into the craters.

With Salomon athletes Mark Abma and Chris Rubens, along with Eric Hjorleifson, we aim to change that. The peak we have in mind sports a 2 km wide crater with a 360 degree periphery of tasty lines and perfect film angles.  Our team will access a remote hut via horses like the local Gauchos where we will stage base camp and spend the better half of two weeks getting the job done. One side of the crater is peppered with large cliffs, another is characterized by faces, spines, straightlines and pow turns.  The potential for every side will be unlocked by the expedition's athletes.  Stay tuned in the fall for the trip reports and photos.
