Sherpas Latest Project: "All.I.Can"

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Rocky Mountain Sherpas are proud to present our newest film project, “All.I.Can”.  The first shoot which took place in September 2009 in central Chile and can only be understated as an epic monstrosity of radness.  With Mark Abma, Eric Hjorleifson, and Chris Rubens, we etched our mark on one of the last great unridden terrain features on this planet, the summit crater of a volcano!

Like the local Gauchos, we accessed the peak traditionally with the aid of 17 packhorses.  A quaint treeline hut provided shelter as we awaited a break in the weather to mount our assault on the summit crater.  Hoji, Rubens and Abma fell back on their carpentry skills and diligently made home improvements to our humble abode, greatly impressing the Gauchos.  We built kickers, ate like Kings and drank a different and amusingly named Chilean booze each night in an attempt to “drink it blue”.

Finally, when jungle mists did disperse and afforded views of what we came to do, we were greeted with the coolest and most unique terrain we had ever feasted our eyes upon.  A 360-degree perfect circle of Alaskan Spines, chutes, and cliff drops into the centre of a 2km wide volcanic crater.  Wasting no time, the boys drop into technical lines making exacting turns over cliff exposure, never displaying that this is their first run in over five months.  Two blue days, over a dozen lines later, and our window was shut.  We happily ran down the lower volcanic slopes back to our farm camp where we enjoyed a royal asado and celebrated the 25th birthday of the one they call Rumbo Sur (aka Chris Rubens).

In the quest to do “All.I.Can”, we fuse our passions for riding and exploring the mountains with our potential to help the environment.  In doing so, we make a concerted effort toward environmental awareness and sustainability, not only in resort and mountain communities, but everywhere.  With the aid of Salomon, 1Step (Abma’s environmental charity), WestJet, and more, this film will drop September 2010.  For more information or to give us thousands of dollars in support of this ski film with a greater purpose, please do contact us.
